Remembering EDM pioneer Avicii

Famed DJ and producer Avicii was found dead at 28. His 2011 hit "Levels" catapulted him to fame, and he collaborated with artists like Coldplay and Beyoncé. CBS News correspondent Vladimir Duthiers looks back at his life.

Just for the record, David Guetta and Tiesto are the pioneers of Electronic Dance Music (Daft Punk is not the pioneer of EDM but just EM), but Avicii can be credited as one of the popularizers in the 2010s EDM wave. Just because he died today doesn't make him the pioneer of EDM. If you couldn't think of a more accurate term for your title, then don't say anything at all. Swedish House Mafia, Skrillex, deadmau5, etc - these are pioneers. Avicii came about in 2011 and spawned 2 good songs but is that sufficient to credit him with huge legacy? I am a huge fan of Avicii and I'm extremely sad and upset that he's gone (I even cried that night when I saw the news). But when it comes to fact-checking and reality, we simply cannot be biased.
