"No one wants to be the Villian in this story, that is why they wrote history the way they did." is such a powerful and important statement

Sadly it’s not only the indigenous peoples land. It’s the place they were forced. My great grandmother was forced to walk the Trail of Tears from Alabama to Oklahoma. Her home was Alabama but you won’t see her ancestors getting their land back. At least it’s a start though.

“Where does it stop?”

Oklahoma is a unique case. That’s the territory where Indians were driven from all over the county into a permanent “Indian colonization zone.” The history is very muddy and complicated from there, of course, but to act like Chicago and Oklahoma are the same sort of case is a highly disingenuous argument.

Never forget how people murdered the Osage for oil, its one of the biggest tragedies in the state.

If the land ran out of resources or oil ....how many of those 'suits', 'govt officials' and 'non-native american land owners' would argue to keep the land? answer = none.

You know how this usually works. If it’s something the United States wants or wants back…. They’ll take it.

Much love from a Chickasaw/Seminole Native American, living in Indian Territory, Oklahoma, USA 🇺🇸 🪶 ✌🏾

(I think I should’ve typed that I was Indian instead of Native American) 🥹

I am native and born and raised by Tahlequah. Always interesting in learning more. Excited to see this video! During the trail of tears, ancestors located to tahlequah and my great great grandma had chosen healthcare for the rest of her generations line instead of land for herself. I am PROUD to be Cherokee!!

Americans: Israel has a right to defend itself that’s their homeland.

Okay what about Native Americans?

Americans: No

Tribes should treat the oil companies in the same manner that they were treated.

Just because the U.S. is the villain of the past doesn't mean it can't be the hero of the future. RECONCILIATION and stop denying our past TOGETHER.

11:03 -- NO ONE is asking for the whole damn continent back. The only demand that we have ever pursued in a century of modern activism is that the US should do WHAT YOU AGREED TO DO in all those treaties YOU SIGNED. Nothing more.

The fact that we get free videos from VICE News on YouTube is priceless., keeping the education and knowledge alive 👏
May I also remind you of the fact that our Native American population in our motherland, the Continent of America before the European Colonizers arrived, was around 15 millions, while the European population in their motherland, the Continent of Europe was around 25 millions.
Today, Native American population is 15 million, while the European population, in the Continents of America + Europe, is a staggering TWO BILLION! A shockingly sad truth. 😔
In my humble opinion, it's about time to decolonize the Colonized lands, and return to rightful owners Native American people.
Notorious global cardinal crimes the Christian West has committed, and benefited a great deal, such as Slavery & Colonialism had long been over, why on earth is notorious Colonization still lingering on, may I ask? 🤷

I'd truly enjoy either watching more of this fantastic journalism or read the journalists reporting. This would be an incredible 'read' from the get to! Thank you for your incredible research and open mindedness.

4:10 but he got that deed when the Dawes act opened up land, his family bought land technically not for sale but indians who had no money that were expected to suddenly pay taxes
10:23 probably the scariest thing a politician has said about tribes, essentially overthrowing federal policy

The natives deserve their sovereignty. Let them be and oil isnt going to be worth much in the future anyways

A small win for native citizens but what an awesome outcome. What a big difference it makes.
