This is an interview with one of the most cited chemists in the 21st century - Prof. Dr. Kendall Newcomb Houk. Dr. Houk is an authority on theoretical and computational organic chemistry with tens of awards and achievements, his own research group, and 1400+ published articles over 50 years.

As always, this interview is divided into two parts. In the beginning of the first part of the interview we talked about Dr. Houk's career, and how he ended up being a computational chemist. Then, we discussed the role of computational chemistry in science, and discovered one of the examples of Dr. Houk's researches in the area of enzyme catalyzing reactions. Also, Dr. Houk explained how he became addicted to sports, even though he used to smoke as a youngster, and why he did not choose to become a professional musician like his main hero, Miles Davis. Lastly, we discussed the molecular machines in computational chemistry. Pleasant viewing!
