Long Island's own legendary Good Rats at the Palladium in New York City on March 7th, 1979.

Originally broadcast over WNEW 102.7 FM, This was a benefit show for the Children's Aid Society. Playing 7 out of the 10 songs from the newly released Birth Comes To Us All LP, Peppi and company don't let up from the first note to the last. Fast forward to 50:30 to hear a young Gene Marchello duet with his Dad.

I was 14 from Glen Cove and me and my friends got on the train to the city and saw this show, so great!!!

Saw them on Long Island countless times in the early 70's ... One of the tightest live bands I ever witnessed and I saw them all ... Joe and Lenny were a super tight rhythm section while Mickey and the Cat played off each other so well on Guitars .. Peppi was a great showman and had a voice and range like Burton Cummings on Steroids ... RIP Pep !!

We were at this concert. The Ramones opened. We were on the balcony with a 1/4 lb. of weed and passing bottles of wine. Still think about all that shit. N.Y. in the 70's was friggin awesome.

so I have waited the better part of 18 years to hear this show again... I recorded the concert the night it aired, listened to it often, a buddy borrowed the tape then he died unexpectedly and somehow I never saw that cassette and a a few others again... even wrote the person who ended up with my buddies tape collection asking for the tapes back even providing handwriting samples of my labels but she was like..'forget it'. So today my brain finally says..hey dude go look on you tube and YES... I'm hearing again..thanks for posting. Truly a fave band o mine..they even played on my Bday in 1980 at the rat at Hofstra... BONUS. I was on the stage crew that night!

I’ve often pondered while listening to the Good Rats over the years why such a talented band never headlined “Cobol Hall”, and I believe the main reason is they were too self-deprecating and never took themselves as serious as they should have...and they should have because the talent was there, the charisma was there, but there was an edge of comedy that didn’t belong.
