The BMW 2002 Turbo was the high performance variant of the BMW 2002. Introduced for the 1974 model year, the 2002 Turbo was the first turbocharged model built by BMW. Not only an important model in the history of BMW, the 2002 Turbo has also become a collector classic, combining great looks with sporty and involved performance. These cars were powered by BMW's M31 engine, which was a turbocharged 2.0L version of the famed M10 inline four engine. This engine was available with a 4 or 5 speed manual transmission, with both gearboxes sending drive to the rear wheels. The BMW 2002 Turbo was built until 1975, with just 1,672 examples produced.
