Devs already admit this flaw and they are adding a lot more options.

This happens in almost all long RPGs. The majority of the dev time and effort is put into the front end of the game to support the initial marketing hype and reviews. That said, the game is amazing.

If you play a second time, do the dark urge and lean into it, massively changes up act 3.

Im only on video 2 of your playthrough. Im an older guy (35) and don't have a ton of time to play so i like to play, then watch your videos up until where i am in the game, so there are no spoilers, just to see how someone else did everything. I am coming in blind just like you did and thats what attracted me to your videos. Love it so far, feel like ive watched 10 hours in about a week. Not looking forward to what you are talking about here, but maybe i won't get into this situation. I did play the game quite differently. Love your shit sir.

I just don't agree with you on this one, I have played more than one char and definitely your choices matter and it influences the ending you get. There's plenty of freedom but also it's whitin a story or plot, that's the same as DnD you can't just go against what the DM has set in stone, so that mindflayer is the only thing keeping you alive guess what you can work with him or die like you did, now you didn't like that and from that point on everything was bad or tainted... so why keep playing then? As I said before it felt to me like you were that player in a campaign that when the DM says no to one of his ideas throws a fit and calls the setting/DM/campaign bad

I appreciate the honesty here. I'll still buy this game, so excited!

Seems to me your trying to nit pick when the ending you received was out of your neutral decisions.

Biggest problem I had is missing out on seeing or talking to friends and family, also sleep was a big one too. Sometimes I got hungry and thirsty and couldn't leave too.

Once those get patched out I think it'd be the perfect game.

They need to fix act 3 that shit is bad

Its pretty clear how act 1 benefitted by early access and all the feedback and yeah i think that there are some storypaths in act 1 get really shafted in act 2... like what was even the purpose of a "True Soul" playthrough in act 1 when you get railroaded at the end of act 2...

The biggest problem is your team staying behind on some rock you jumped and you totaly forgot about them till you have to fight with 3 or 2 team mates 😂

This discussion about the ending is interesting to hear about as a long time DM. There's a lot of reasons why people play TTRPGs but one of the biggest draws is the agency in how they interact with the world and how their actions effect the story. That's why so may people have the first time experience of a completely open sandbox game where theres a seemingly limitless number of options and paths. But, in my experience, these games tend to feel less rewarding than a more structured narrative which is why campaign modules and adventure paths are still so popular. The biggest problem with these is when a character's goals or player wants, don't line up with the story.

In any game I run now there's a lot of effort put into session 0 to make sure characters are built with the larger narrative in mind. I wonder if something like that could've helped you feel more immersed in the game at the end.

As others have said, a second play through with leaning into the dark urges can feel great. But that requires knowing that your character might be forced to have dark urges which you don't know on a blind play through and can't envision in your character at the start.

The choices while the story is transitioning into the third act funnels in a bit but once you get into the third act it starts to expand again. It is what it is. It's still a very good game

I love when the devs of BG3 call me racist for playing their game

i find it funny how most people think that their action in act 1 and act 2 would not affect how the game plays out

I dunno man there are situaons in real life you don't have many choice as well. For example ; if a truck coming to you escape there is nothing else to do . What I mean is seeing some situations like this in game would be better. Not helping emperor like a truck coming to you, to escape you help the emperor.

I’m going to be straight with you. What are you smoking? You didn’t feel like you had a choice in the end of act 2. SPOILERS IN THREAD please tell me what happened. I’m close to done with act 3 and have never run into a situation where I felt like I didn’t have a choice. In fact the choices have felt more impactful with higher consequences every step of the way.

after thinking about it for a while I think the narrowing of options may have been intentional given revelations of manipulations going on beyond the players awareness.
