The Minecraft Survival Guide Season 3 continues in Minecraft 1.20!
This tutorial will introduce you to potion brewing, explaining the ingredients to brew potions, how to use them, and how they can be modified!

We take a look at positive potion effects which give players Fire Resistance, Water Breathing, Night Vision, Regeneration, Instant Health, and Strength. We explore how these effects can be intensified using glowstone dust, or extended using redstone - and how any potion can be transformed into a splash potion with gunpowder.

We then take a look at how throwing splash potions can lead to different effect durations, how the effect can also hit other mobs in the splash radius, and what happens when you splash a creeper with a potion effect! After that, we return to look at inverting potion effects to create negative effect potions, and see how an invisibility potion can help us avoid detection from hostile mobs!

We also discover our first deepslate coal ore, spot some diamonds with night vision, and talk about future potion brewing ingredients we don't have access to yet.

Minor correction: Potion of Poison is brewed with spider eye on awkward potion, not by inverting a regeneration potion. Both potion of poison and potion of healing can individually be inverted to make a potion of harming, which applies instant damage (and heals undead mobs).

One cool thing about brewing is that every ingredient is renewable.
Also, if you need help but don't want to load the wiki constantly, there is Vanilla Tweaks/Bedrock Tweaks which add a neat little brewing guide to the brewing stand UI.

Great episode, I love brewing. My favorite thing to do to keep water in my brewing area is to put 4 stairs in the floor under the block the brewing stand sits on. You can waterlog the stairs and have an infinite water supply for bottles, and it's an eye catcher when it comes to designing a room.

Although I've been playing Minecraft for over 10 years now and I'm very familiar with the game, I still love watching your survival guides. And it's not only because they're great - which they are - but they're also a lovely demonstration of how tightly designed and interconnected the game's mechanics are.

Yeah the potion color change really threw me for a loop while watching. I thought "Why is the fire resistance potion so orange looking? Must just be my eyes." This series is even beneficial for "Minecraft veterans" who just haven't played in a long time. Thanks for taking the time to explain such a small detail, Pix. Really love the series.

Been playing forever and never knew about the inverting effect of fermented spider eyes. This series never disappoints!

Potions! I'd forgotten what ghast tears make, it's so fun seeing what different stuff can do in Minecraft! Also, for potion brewing there's a texture pack on Vanilla Tweaks that shows a "cheat sheet" of all the ingredients and effects on the brewing stand interface.

Very interesting at 17:23 - so that means curing a zombie villager with a potion of weakness is actually like hitting them with a potion of regeneration!

Quick note @Pixlriffs, I heard the Minecraft wiki is going to be shutting down and most likely won't be receiving updates anymore. If it's true, we're gonna have to find a new site that stays up to date on newer updates...

Ok………. I’ve been watching minetubers for half a decade now and I had NO IDEA about potion of swiftness (at least, not enough ppl use them for me to remember)
PIXL! You changed the game completely for me!!!! I will never not be using this potion!!! Thank you so much!!!

(For context, I can’t with the slow pace MC has on starting fase, but I’m too noob to beat the dragon, so I end up giving up before elytra)

Love the heal-to-harm mechanic, the tradition goes back forever. There was even a boss fight in FF7 who was undead, and you could quite famously one-shot him with a phoenix down.
