Methodology

1) I gathered data from youtube, youtube music and spotify.

2) I made the templates to use for each opening with capcut.

3) Audio assets were added with Wondershare Filmora.

Although the diversity in Anime and Artists is pretty similar to the Openings and Endings lists, the diversity in Time Period is much reduced compared to any of the other lists with it being far more biased to recent songs. There is a big jump in 2014 and years before that have almost no representation, while songs after 2020 take up almost half the list. Its pretty clear that the increased use of streaming and hype around new stuff on streaming platforms is having an impact and the 2022 and later songs have pushed their way further up the list just in the last few months since rinne did the OP video. However, 2024 has been weak with only 2 songs represented despite plenty of deserving material existing.

Overall It is a nice list to listen to. the combined list does remove a bunch of the weaker OSTs and Endings but it a shame it cuts out a ton of the most interesting, highest quality, and most iconic songs from early times before streaming on spotify was a super common practice that tend to survive on the other lists even if they are in lower placement.
