Turkey's most extreme road, Bayburt of Yolu (D915) ⚠️🇹🇷 🌎🏍

Winding through northeastern Turkey, this road was built in 1916 by Russian soldiers, linking Trabzon and Bayburt. This section is Derebaşı, the most scenic, just before the steep and numerous hairpin turns working their way up to 2000m.
One house perches on the cliffside 'Derebaşı Dinlenme ve Konaklama Tesisleri' or 'Derebaşı rest stop', with a very friendly owner. I arrived late, and even though his guest beds were taken by cycle travellers, he offered me the couch next to the warmth of the
wood burner after we all enjoyed plenty of tea and bean stew.
