The moment we question “what” is experiencing all of this, we foist a duality on awareness and relegate it to an object—“that” is experiencing this, “awareness” is perceiving this. We anthropomorphize awareness, grant it qualities such as being a perceiving agent, God, intelligent, loving, peaceful, etc. We are necessarily shackled to the limitations of mind. Where there are thoughts, there will be a demand for an answer: Why? How? Who?

Transcend the “I Am awareness” thought and the “It is awareness perceiving itself” thought. Then absolutely awareness is neither one nor two, neither God nor the absence of God, neither aware nor unaware. Beyond all thoughts—IS. We discover the limits of explanation and understanding, and in this discovery we find ultimate freedom. Not only may Truth require no explanation, could it be that this Truth cannot be explained?
