Steven Koonin is a theoretical physicist who has had a long career in academia, business, and government. In this episode, Koonin talks with Robert about his new book, Unsettled, why he believes efforts to limit debate about climate science are “pernicious,” why he is concerned about the reliability of the electric grid, why he finds the “denier” term abhorrent, and why “we need slow, steady pressure” on our energy and power systems, “not crash decarbonization.”

This is an excellent podcast in general and this guest in particular continues the long line of superb thinkers with great insight. Not surprising these insights are ignored by the politicians that are using global warming to scare the populace to maintain power.

Great guest! Steve Koonin if you read this, please do some additional research into generation IV liquid-fueled fission. SMR's are just tiny LWR's and will revolutionize nothing because they are high-pressure, low output temperature water boilers.
Gen. IV is low pressure, very high industrial heat level output, this makes all the difference in the world. The transition to fission will happen here, not SMR's. Elysium Industries, Moltex, Thorcon power, Terrestrial energy this is the future.
