I bought a piano last year and started learning to play it. This is what happened.
No previous experience with piano. I knew how to play drums, but tempo was still challenging when learning the piano.

Thank you for posting this. I am an 80 year old man, just starting to learn, for the very first time. Your progress has been phenomenal. If I can do 30% as good in the same time frame, I will be thrilled. Keep it going. Think of all the people you are inspiring!

This actually amazing. As someone who plays the piano for over ten years i can easily admit that it took me way longer to reach your skill level. This video is pleasant variety to all these fake videos where people pretend to be beginners. You have my full respect and you show what people can do if they have the will to do it...

Finally a realistic one not someone who can play Rondo Alla turca in the first month of playing. Also, this was motivating thank you for posting this

my parents got me in piano when i was three and they forced me into practicing 2+ hours a day every day. after a good 8 years i was tired of the recitals and competitions and stop playing piano. videos like these are the ones that got me back into piano after many years. thanks for the awesome video and good luck with all the new pieces you will learn in the future

Hearing you play Claire de Lune, even just the beginning of it, at 11 months is extremely inspiring for me. I love classical music, and to hear one of my favorite classical pieces being played after only playing piano for less than a year, that was impressive to me. Great job, this was an experience to watch, and good luck on the rest of your piano journey :D

This is one of the most realistic Piano journeys I have seen on YouTube. I admire the grind.

A lot of these people put up videos where they start playing easy pieces in the first few weeks with proper fingering, shapes ( like the curved pinky finger, lol), and complete dexterity; I just hate that. For example, no matter how talented you are, you are not getting that curved pinky while playing during your initial days, it takes monthsss.

Keep up the good work, man. :)

I took piano lessons for 6 years, starting at the age of 9, (that was 1959) and I still play. It's not uncommon to spend two or three hours a day on the keyboard. Of course it's a lot easier now that I'm retired. Trust me, sometimes it gets frustrating, but in the long-term it definitely is worth it. Hing in there.

Excellent. I'm 54 and began piano 2 month ago so never too old. It's like learning a new language.

Congratulations!! This is very inspiring. My parents started me on piano lessons when I was 4 and ended up dropping it because I developed perfectionistic expectations of myself... I've had a difficult relationship with music ever since. Videos like this are such a good reminder that you can always improve and enjoy yourself no matter where you're starting from. Good luck!!!

Really funny to see how casual you were on day one just being happy to play a few notes 🤣 and then seeing it manifest into some really nice music over the months.

Sick progress! Where is my mind, at 9 months, was my favourite :D

This is extremely good progress for only a year, its clear you have put in a lot of hard work over the year to get this kind of result.

On a similar journey just about one year later: I started in November/October 2021, and can now play a couple of folk songs (chords and melody), play songs by chords a bit, and use the sustain pedal somewhat like it's supposed to. It's hecking cool. <3 I just got an actual acoustic piano, and can't believe how awesome it is. Just the amount of volume you can get out of one is amazing, which means you can sing along belting as loud as you want without drowning out your playing -> leads to some amazing flow when you can just feel the music down to your bones. Highly recommended!

This is inspirational too: Polovetsian dances is one of my favourite little pieces and I never had the idea of trying to learn it. Here you're going along at 3 months! Definately going to take it up <3

Inspirational. I'm 61 and my keyboard arrives on Monday. I'll be following a similar path I hope.

This is a real progression, not like Many youtube videos where after 8 months they are already able to play la campanella. In order to improve I suggest you a piece : gymnopedie n 1 by satie, simple but really satisfying

Very nice! The thing I noticed was that your piano looks rather high. your arms shouldn't go up from your elbows, you should have basically an L shape that may be angled from your shoulders outwards a bit. Its hard to describe but there are lots of videos shown you. The right height makes a HUGE difference in comfort and fluidity

EDIT: it looks like you've fixed it by the end.

At 41 I have been wanting to learn how to play for about the past 5 or 6 years. I was always intimidated by not knowing how to read music or not having any background in music. I finally decided I’m going to push myself to learn and not regret never trying. I’m 4 days in and can only hope I make half of the progress you have. Your skills came a long way from when you first started. I’m glad I came across your video and thank you for being an inspiration
