The last analyst comment about assault on democracy was a stupid cheap shot. Modi is not handing out long prison sentences for protesting, like here in US. Additionally India has free and transparent elections, unlike here in US where voting keeps on going for months, and then counting goes on for weeks, with no ID check or controls. People should watch their mouth when they speak. I have not yet even mentioned riots here in US, to intimidate voters.

India is definitely a better democracy than the US - no insurrection, no riots, no voter suppression, no gerrymandering and on and on.
Instead of repeating comments made by others, try to understand how democracy works in India. Wait, that’s take a lot of your mental energy!

Freedoms and human rights should be viewed as a spectrum and not a black or white issue. If you were to ask the Europeans about their view of America their opinion would be that African Americans and other minorities continue to get a raw deal, women and LGBTQ+ continue to have their rights trampled etc. Most Americans would not agree with this kind of European assessment. Same thing can be said about a majority of Indians who have democratically chosen their multiple leaders, Modi and a bunch of others in the various states.
