My only issue with MyHeritage is that if you are not paying for the top plan they constantly try to get you to pay for a more expensive plan. Constant notifications of so&so matches but when you click on them you have to pay more to see them. It just kind of bugs me. Like if the access that I pay for doesn't allow me to see some records or Smart Match then just don't allow me to access them. Or when they have specials where for a couple of days you can have free access to record matches but they don't tell you that you can only look at them because if you try to add them you have still have to pay for a higher plan.

I hadn't been entering occupation for the same reason as you, because it wasn't attached to a date. But you got me thinking: I can edit it and enter: 1887 Laborer, or alternatively: Laborer (1887)

Titel of your contribution is "find your ancestors", what ancestor did you find ? only the ones you already knew. That is exactly my experience with myheritage : you only find what you knew. That is why the other sites is so much more fun: there you have functions to find ancestors you didn't know about !!

Best approach to weed through my DNA matches. They are all distant and only recognize
a few.

#1 reason I don't use MyHeritage. Women listed by married name. Show me her baptism where her name is Susan Married Name. I have enough people who make a tree using women's married name as their maiden name and then go on to build a pedigree for her using her married name as her maiden name. Will not work no matter how many trees claim that's her family.
