Should You Buy a Used Audi RS7

What is it like to run an Audi RS7? How much does it cost? And should you buy one? And what should you look out for?

This is my own Audi RS7 C6.1 from 2016. The A7-model was first shown in Munich in 2010 and the RS7-model came in 2013 and was produced for four years.

This is my third RS7. 8 years old, it has just turned 107,000 km. Audi made a small facelift in 2015 and gave it some tweaks to the exterior, added better software and a Nvidia Tegra 3 processor. Even today, at 8 years of age, the car feels pretty up to date. The interior looks very modern and up-to-date, too. The seats look new and everything feels crisp.

The RS7 has a big heart! Its powerful V8 boasts 560 HP and 3993cc with twin turbos. This is a standard engine, but you can easily tune it to 700 HP and some even tuned it to 1000 HP.

Despite the big engine volume and power, the fuel consumption can be quite reasonable if you drive featherfooted, 10l/100 km is easily reached because it can shut off 4 of the 8 cylinders when cruising at 100-130 km/h. But push the accellerator and the consumption jumps to 20l/100 km or more. Typically, I see an average consumption of 14l/100 km. The top speed is 250 km/h and 0-100 km/h takes 3.9 seconds.

Overall, the RS7 is probably Quattro's best work yet. I’ve owned several RS4s, RS5s, RS6s, RSQ8s and two RS7s before this one. In my opinion the RS7 is the pick of the RS models from Audi.

In Switzerland the Audis are sold with a 10-year maintenance package up to 100,000 km, and the Audi dealers do care about their RS-customer if there is a problem.

In general you should expect in excess of 200,000 trouble-free kilometers – because the key issue, which the car was born with, has been fixed by Audis. This was the issue of the oil filters in the turbocharger which caused a number of engines to blow up.

Audi realized this and recalled the all cars with the 3993 cc V8 engine and changed the filters – which by the way is an 8 hour job for a trained technician. This car had the repair work done at 96,000 km.

In total, with some 10,000 km per year, expect the cost to be approx. 7,663 CHF per year excluding fuel but without depreciation. In total it will cost ca. 15,963 CHF per year (incl. depreciation and fuel) to run an RS7. A lot of money but not bad for a super car!

Thank you for watching!

Filmed in Switzerland in July 2024. Produced by DNTS Productions.

I purchased a 2016 Audi S7, single previous owner Audi service history. I have been driving it for a year and started to get bored of it. I then went test driving for a new car for my wife and while test driving a bunch of other cars I quickly fell back in love with my S7. It has a blend of comfort and performance that you wont find with many others. And the gauges with retractable screen makes it timeless.

As an owner of a 2016 s7 tuned and exhaust. The quality everything is outstanding. One of my favorite Audi vehicle. Second favorite was 2014 SQ5 3.0t. Ran that to 200k miles with no issues at all.

Super informative video. I’m thinking of upgrading from my 2021 S7 to a newer but used RS7. This was helpful in my decision making. 🙏

Really nice informative video on a great to own car. Nice maintenance tips to save the car and money. I bought a new 2024 RS7C8 performance. I could not be more thrilled. I plan on owning it a very long time

Great stuff! It was nice having a breakdown of the real price of ownership per year. Also I really liked the front shot of the car winding down the road in the right, as you went through the different costs on the left.

looking at a 2014 rs7 with 131k miles for roughly $21k. he has had motor mounts, oil strainers, and PCV work done on top of general maintenance, always did oil changes at max 8k miles, mostly 5k miles. it does neet front brake pads replaced and one wheel does have a crack so it leaks. what are your thoughts? i am fighting myself to not buy it lol

Audis offer a great drive. But if they break down (and this is not uncommon above 60K mls) you will need deep pockets for the repair(s). Just beware!

As an American I do not like imported vehicles such as Mercedes and BMW just to name a few but I've always had my eye on Audi. However, I'm a Cadillac fan and Cadillac has been making Vs and that was half a decade before the first RS7 was ever designed. İ could by a 2019 CTS-V which is quicker/faster/cheaper in price and has more horsepower. 640 from the factory to be exact and with full bolt ons and a Schmidty tune these cars can push past 1200 HP especially with a Magnuson ported Supercharger. Plus they look A LOT better especially in the interior and offer much more luxury. The end result is the RS7 especially the legacy edition is a beautiful car but Cadillac has taken over the luxury sedan Sportcar industry. The bigger brother to the Cadillac V the 2025 Corvette ZR1 is proof of that, as it leaves from the factory with 1064
NOTHİNG is comparable in terms of the most bang for your buck in terms of HP.
