I watch so many k2 videos that I'm basically familiar with the entire mountain 😂 off to watch yours now too!

K2 may let u up, but she sure as hell ain’t letting you down. Most deaths occur on the descent of K2.

Meanwhile Annapurna washes everyone and everything away with the biggest avalanches ever, she's like "get TF off of me!🌬️💨👋🏻❄️"

Getting adequate sleep is such a problem In mountaineering! I feel it’s one of the most overlooked factors.

I swear if someone invented a special heat resistant suit some people would want to go and explore inside active volcanos

The 'Black Pyramid' on K2 is a small part of the route, shaped like the great pyramids at Giza- but, imagine climbing one of those, far steeper, often vertical, and over twice as tall... at @20, 000 feet!

I've had some friends that have climbed that high (though NOT on K2!), and they said that that altitude feels like trying to breathe through a straw, and when they got down to base camp, the air felt like it was breathing soup! (And their base camp was at like 16k feet!)

I've never been higher than 14, 400-ish feet (Mt. Rainier), I'm sure I could go a lot higher, but:

I can't imagine being TWICE as high, on a slope TWICE as steep, with a 'you-fall-you-die' level of consequence... I'm an experienced climber, at least enough to know how exceptional this kind of mountaineering is!

That shows you how fckin skilled and brave Nirmal Purja is.

And this is all JUST the mountain itself! It doesn’t include the long, dangerous trek through glaciers, roads that wash away, and conditions that can change literally faster then you can blink.

Respects for all to those tried & achieved the summit and more to those lost their lives.

I've climbed almost all of these mountains vicariously through these videos.

The people who climb these mountains are on another level. Including the sherpa’s nothing short of amazing

Hard to beleive that climbing through Khumbu is one of the easier ways to summit.

My toughest experience climbing took place when I was in the army stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado. I couldn’t have for a more beautiful area to spend my time in the military and felt very lucky for my first and only duty station. Anyway my mountain climbing consists of the 19 mile ride up to the top of pikes peak and the class 1 trail. I’ve always been in very good physical shape and I can’t imagine what it takes to be able to make these amazing climbs plus the fear that would keep one on high alert the entire time. I’m saying the fear as negative but something needed at least for me. And the height is unbelievable which I don’t do well but you when you see a person’s first hand view and the clouds are below them it’s awe inspiring. I don’t totally understand the why when it comes to people literally putting their life on the line to do something like this but I don’t have to and I do respect what a person is capable of doing it. Is there a cost just to be allowed to climb a mountain like this and is there something you write on behalf of yourself in case you don’t come back. I’ve just recently been watching about Everest and I was baffled at the fact that some people that perished on the mountain are left there. I’m just ignorant to how it all works and I find it all fascinating for some reason and I admire it. God bless

The Abruzzi route. Crazy to think of how they first did it.
