External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, made a veiled reference to a statement made by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken regarding human rights issues in India . Speaking at a press conference in Washington DC, Jaishankar stated the US was entitled to its views. He added that whenever there was a discussion on the issue, India would not be reticent about speaking out.

When the charter of human rights was enshrined in the UNO the founding fathers had a genuine desire to protect the lives of every human but the same human rights slogan is being used as a tool by antisocial elements as a Trojan horse, countries as as an excuse to shame other, or criminals seeking leniency for their heinous crime. Humanity should device more stringent practices to deter the misuse of the human rights slogan.
