Niamh and Mark built this beautiful upside down home in rural Ireland using a timber frame structure, and it was always their dream to achieve Passive House Standard. The house is unique in that the kitchen and dining areas are upstairs, and the bedrooms downstairs. My compliments to this young couple with their new house , plenty of open space and a sense of freedom within, I hope they will add some nice decidieous trees and some hard woods which would compliment their new home, personally i have a love for trees and schrubery

Some very interesting videos and love the camera work / music / editing however one thing most channels don't mention is budget and price, specifically the cost of land and the build - that's the most important part of any self build journey.

If I were building now, I would make walls of solid brick, with a ventilated hinged facade or using frame technology. It would have turned out to be a warm house with a lot of inertia.

Fab house and great video! I dream of the day when costs come back to €120 - 140 Sqft so I can build. They're closer to €200 - 220 now 😑

Would of been nice to know what exactly the passive house details were. What did they use for the walls, underfloor heating, cooking energy, solar etc? couldn’t get a n idea of layout. What was meant by upside down house? Too much talking and not enough showing imo.

I love this video but I don’t see all the goals that are in the description met and how you met passive house standards ie heating, ventilation, insulation etc. will this be in a future episode?

It's beautiful.

We're building a passive house but I don't have any interest in getting it certified. It's been quite an argument with my partner. I don't see the point in paying to prove it. We'll know it's passive and our bills will know it's passive.
