India has taken a significant leap in sustainable transportation with the launch of the Vayve Eva, the nation’s first solar-powered electric car. Unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the Eva is set to revolutionize urban mobility with its compact design, eco-friendly technology, and affordability. 

Design and Dimensions

The Vayve Eva is reminiscent of small EVs like the Mahindra E2O and Reva, featuring a compact hatchback design ideal for city commutes. It measures 2,950 mm in length and 1,200 mm in width, making it adept at navigating through congested urban areas. Despite its petite size, the Eva comfortably accommodates up to two adults and one child, providing a practical solution for small families or individual travelers. 

Variants and Pricing

Vayve offers the Eva in three variants to cater to diverse customer needs:
• Nova: Priced at ₹3.25 lakh (ex-showroom), this base model comes with a 9 kWh battery pack, delivering a real-world range of approximately 125 km. 
• Stella: At ₹3.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Stella variant is equipped with a 12.6 kWh battery, offering a range of around 175 km. 
• Vega: The top-tier Vega variant is priced at ₹4.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and features an 18 kWh battery pack, providing an impressive range of up to 250 km on a single charge. 

Solar Integration and Charging

A standout feature of the Eva is its solar roof, capable of providing an additional range of up to 10 km per day, translating to approximately 3,000 km of free driving annually. This solar integration reduces dependency on charging infrastructure, promoting a more sustainable mode of transportation. For conventional charging, the Eva supports DC fast charging, allowing the battery to reach 80% capacity in just 45 minutes. 

Performance and Specifications

The Eva is powered by an electric motor delivering 20.11 bhp, ensuring efficient performance for urban driving. Its compact dimensions and lightweight design contribute to an operational cost of approximately ₹0.5 per km, making it an economical choice for daily commutes. 

Interior and Features

Inside, the Eva is equipped with modern amenities to enhance the driving experience. Features include dual digital displays, a 6-way powered driver seat, and a fixed glass roof, providing a blend of comfort and convenience. The vehicle also offers smart connectivity options, including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ensuring drivers stay connected on the go. 

Safety Features

Safety is a priority in the Eva’s design. The vehicle comes with a driver airbag and seatbelts for both passengers, providing essential protection during city drives. Additionally, the monocoque chassis and front crumple zone enhance the vehicle’s safety credentials.
