Ch8 Pr5: Finding eigenvalues and eigenvectors

How to find the eigenvalues and eigenvectors for a 2x2 matrix.

A fast method is used to find the second eigenvector: finding the basis of a one dimensional kernel is easy, just find any vector that is mapped to zero by the matrix. That's it.

Note that the fast way is (as usual) also dangerous. You need to be sure that the kernel is one dimensional.

How is this possible to film? (Reflection in y axis?)
Anyway loving the series on matrices.

u know how to do it if the eigenvalues are rational number? its very hard for me ._. e.g. (4 2; 5 4)
