Alexia after witnessing Shadow never strayed from her path because her fighting style is similar as Shadow’s thus she can stronger than anyone in her kingdom (edited) after being compared to Iris her whole life.

Iris, who was praised as a prodigy throughout her whole life, can’t bare to accept the fact someone that there are people stronger than her. She’s also the head knight so losing isn’t much of an option for her either. She’s a princess so she bares a lot of responsibility for someone so young. She falls into despair.

The fact that Cid was about to dip but got legit triggered by Iris' words so much that he legit took a minute to show her he could nuke everything without her being able to do nothing to stop it, then dipped after like nothing.

I find it funny how Iris convinced herself so much that shadow is the enemy to the point she would despair about it. Even though she never had conclusive evidence that he ever did something against the kingdom (well, except a lot of landscape damage, but after the final fight she's one to talk)
