Man that's awesome, I had a neighbor when I was a kid that had a red crackerbox. Man did I love when that truck would come by. I would run out by the road to watch and hear it go by. Nothing like those old Detroit diesels.

O-H-I-O Porters🇺🇸Greetings in this new year…2025! Looks like you had a good crew to help get it out & get it to the shop! I was shocked that it really had water & still wanted to start, but those old motors were die hard! WOW! It ran rather good, considering & it sounded like an old Detroit should. Love the old Crackerboxes. They were quite cool & unusual looking, even for their time. I have one as well & it hasn’t run for some time…like 35 years or more. Good stuff! What’s next? Best of luck with it! Blessings my friend. Thanks for sharing! 🥰🤩✌️

I am 66 years old and when I was young I used to see these trucks on the road a lot. You couldn't mistake the sound of those Detroit' engines. That engine still has that Detroit engine lope sound. That's amazing...

I ran a cracker box with a 318 Detroit 10 speed hall cattle had a blast doing it. Wish I could find one just to run it for just good memories.❤❤❤❤❤😂

Amazing, set for 40 years and the tires still holding air. I drove a 66 Crackerbox 238, 5 speed 2 speed axle. They were noisy and rough riding, but got the job done.

I recognize that crackerbox. It was owned by a local construction company in my hometown of Woodstock, New Brunswick. I was hoping it hadn't been crushed up and turned into scrap. It sat for many years in a field in upper Woodstock

A few years back I rescued a 2-axle GMC Titan down in Columbus, GA. Sadly I had to move back to WA to care for my father and couldn't take it. Luckily I had a coworker at the airport who had property and was skilled with diesels, so I gave it to him. I hope he was able to get it running. I miss that truck! Nice work getting that one rescued.

I learned to drive truck in one of those without a sleeper. We called them 2 man telephone booths. 318 Detroit with a 10 speed.

Glad to see no one was racking on the throttle when she finally started. Looked like several gallons of water in the pan.

In the early 80s during a return home trip from Arizona to Wisconsin we came across a convoy of three GMC crackerbox semi rigs. The curious thing was that at the back of the convoy was two suburbans with privacy curtains and whip antennas. As I passed the convoy, with aroused curiosity, we passed three "cracker box" rigs with all ID badges removed and government plates. The tractors were painted pastel colors that actually made them more noticeable. The cab windows were dark green and gave every indication of being armored. At the head of the convoy was another suburban tricked out like the two in the rear gaurd position. I had read that the Air Force used over the road rigs to transport nuclear warheads. ???😮

Always put a vice grip on the injector control rack in case it try’s to run away, also the emergency stop flapper usually won’t stop a runaway! Cool find.

This is a definite keeper. I'm really surprised the engine wasn't stuck with all that water in the pan. To bad the stack wasn't covered when they parked it

It is so impressive to hear that old Detroit fire up. Too bad that beast will never pass California emissions.👍👍👍👍👍🍻
