P.S. All home cooks and aspiring chefs worth their salt are aiming for food that taste like what our moms made for us when we were little. So it’s extra cool watching an actual mom rock out in the kitchen for a change with the legit sound of kids in the background. Respect. 😊

Love this. Don’t know why but watching folks cook and/or talk about cast iron is super comforting and enjoyable. Thanks for sharing so many of your cool techniques!

I’ve watched A LOT of videos about cast iron— I’ve always been a little scared of not following rules, cleaning, etc etc. This is probably the best and most easy to follow video. I love this approach and it’s definitely not as intimidating as I had thought! Thank you!!

This is a really cool series! I liked the sourdough starter one too, it made things seem waaay less intimidating.

Great video! I never made sourdough or used cast iron until watching your videos. Now I'm a pro with both. It's been life changing! Thank you Lisa!

I had a glass stove top and I used my cast iron pans all the time. It scratched the heck out of it but I didn’t care. I love my cast iron pans. My friends and family were kinda freaked out about it, but I figure it’s my stove, it was paid for, my pans, my life. And they certainly enjoyed what whatever came out those pans. So it’s all good.☺️

I love hearing your children in the background. They grow up super fast.

I love how you go about doing your thing, lifting all the heavy cast iron while you have your baby on you - go mom, so impressive! I hope I am as good when it is my time to be a parent. Happy cooking!

This little baby seems very content in your wrap. It was so sweet seeing him looking around .

This has been your most helpful video for me to date! I’ve had such a hard time understanding how to care for cast iron, thinking I was doing it all wrong until now!! Thank you Lisa!

I’m a new sub. And I have to tell you the day that I heard you say just wipe it out instead of washing constantly made a world of difference to me. And this video was stellar. I’m excited to really use my cast-iron more often!

This is how I treat my cast iron pans which I received when my Dad passed away. They are from 1959. Still going strong.
I also liveaboard a sailboat where there is a lot of humidity and I have no problems with them, but like you, Lisa, I use them every day.
I do keep mine in my galley oven though which may protect them somewhat from extra humidity.

Hi Lisa! Thank you for this great video on caring for cast iron. I am 68yrs old and recently transitioned to all cast iron cooking thanks to you! Your video confirmed that I am taking care of my cast iron correctly!

Just want to say thank you LIsa, thank you for passing on your knowledge in such an easy to understand way. Tonight as I am taking my sourdough bagels...puffed up high and beautiful....my two loaves of beautifully designed sourdough bread...and I too have cast iron that I use way more after being inspired by you....I thought of you tonight in total gratitude. I am much older than you and have learned so much from you. I miss the small woman’s groups that use to gather to share fun and knowledge. I am thinking of having a few friends over to share what I have learned from you in sourdough bread making. I have had a small group over that I taught how to make kombucha...we are bonded by our kombucha brewing. Love you and appreciate all that you do.

The thing that made the biggest difference with cleaning my cast iron was making sure the pan is still hot when I clean it, think like cooking bacon and pancakes on a griddle, moving the finished food to a platter. Then immediately cleaning the griddle, before you eat. Just quickly with a green scouring pad and water. Then immediately back to the stove, which is still hot enough to dry it properly, but no risk of leaving the stove on. Which I’ve done many a time before lol

I care for my cast skillets the same way, Lisa. And I do have a glass cooktop. But, I lift my skillets to move them. I don't push them across my stove top. TJ is getting cuter all the time. Love hearing the kids having fun in the background.

🍳Aloha from Hawaii! Ever since I’ve been watching you I have built up my cast iron to 5 skillets and 5 Dutch ovens. I love cooking in cast irons and now realize that growing up on a farm, it’s the only cookware my grandparents had. The food definitely tastes better! I have gotten rid of all my Teflon cookware. And cleaning it up is so easy! Thank you again for another awesome video 😊
