Holden has just released the 2016 Holden Commodore VF II and it is jam packed with a 6.2-litre LS3 V8 engine that produces 304kW of power.

We line it up against the outgoing Holden Commodore SS-V with a 6.0-litre V8 that produces 270kW of power.

See how close these two are with the new engine under the hood.

Don't forget the vf2 has better diff gearing. Manual is now 3.7 instead of the 3.45 for the series 1. And auto is now 3.27 instead of 2.92

One is tuned for fuel economy and the other for performance, not a lot of difference in performance, but a huge difference in real life fuel economy, the l77 6.0 litre can get 4 cylinder fuel usage with its tall diff ratio and cylinder deactivation

Would love to see a drag race between a standard VF SS and a ZB V6 AWD

Its called marketing people, anything to sell the new series wo and if you look at the series one HSV's as well compared to the series two, the only difference is gear ratios and models the GTS/R came out in the series two, which basically had a little more changes, which if people wanted a little upgrade to the GTS that's what they got or if you could get one its the W1 which is based on the GTS/R but with the LS7 motor out of the C7 corvette but why they did not put the W427 LS7 and supercharged that engine i dont know you would want the new 427 alloy block with all the best stuff the race team used in their cars and put that stuff in the W14, still a very expensive investment meaning that buy a house if you can for 250K and see if the car out does the value in 20 years the house you paid for at 250K or the W1, i put my bet on the house all the time??
Unless you have the cash like jay leno and the cars he has which are worth a lot of money dont get driven at all if anything they disconnect the speedos and run the engine and transmission on a hoist that way everything is to operational temps other than brakes or put the cars on a AWD dyno set up and then run the cars every so often that way she has low kms and she is worth more than what jay leno paid for them or better still in those hi strength plastic covers which are humidity controlled large air bags which the car is put into to make it last etc. :) 4
