I just ordered a Sapphire HD6870. In a side by side comparison test that I read recently the Sapphire card overclocked better than the other HD6870 cards tested including the Diamond HD6870 OC which has a good overclock out of the box. The Sapphire pushed higher in core than all others. One card beat it by 5mhz in memory OC'ing but the extra core OC more than made up for it. This is the REFERENCE card, too. I can only imagine what a Toxic or Vapor-X will do when they come out.

Most people don't look into rails but it's something you might want to familiarize yourself with. Generally what you need to know is that multiple 12+ volt rails usually reduce stability when overclocking or overtaxing the PSU. The second thing you should know is the amperage of each 12+V rail. Amperage indicates how easily electricity flows. Think of a river, the higher the amperage, the faster the water.

So the more amps the better. (however above 100 amps is dangerous).

You can stream with any graphics card, the question is finding a streaming service that isn't garbage. Having a fast internet seems to be the most important part for anything more than 480p streaming

@nelizmastr: The 6850/6870 'Barts' cards are indeed set to replace the 5750/5770. Expect 'Cayman' (6950/6970) to replace the 5850/5870 by January '11.

@MadSinister no they dont, that would mean these cards are actually more expensive. the 6850 replaces the 5770, and the 6870 replaces 5830/5850. the benchmarks clearly show that. why replace one card (f.i. 5770) with a 6850 which has a score of 3500 points more in 3DMark Vantage?

I don't know about that. All the reviews I've seen say anywhere from 10 inches to 10.25. Cards from different vendors may vary, though. I'm pretty sure the HD6870 from Diamond is a bit shorter than the rest but who wants to buy a Diamond?

Yes 500 Watt or higher, but I would recommend a 600W. I forgot to mention the TDP is not 151 watts. It is 75W x3 because you have 2 6 pin connectors each pulling 75W which is 150, then you have the PCI-E slot pulling another 75 Watts, so your really pulling 225W or maybe a little higher, depending on the situation. So I would recoment a 600W or greater power supply or greater, because remember you still have to power all the rest of the components in the system.

@maitaufu yes the new display port 1.2 supports 3 monitors per port thats why you can hook up eyefinty by only using one connector of your graphics card

@nelizmastr I get what you're saying, but the 6870/6850 is set to replace the 5770/5750. Their performance is simply above and beyond what they replace.

@Jizonelos Yes, but the HD5970 is a dual GPU card. Te GTX480 is a single-gpu card. Two 480s will outperform one 5970. While also being much hotter and consuming much more power...

@Frothtastic In terms of tier it does. The 5850 is replaced by the 6950. You are right that the 6870 beats the 5850 in every way though.
