LS430 engine sound at idle (knocking?)

The knocking sound can’t be heard from the driver’s side even with the hood open, and barely audible from above the engine on the passenger side with the hood open. It is only slightly more audible while standing ~2 feet away from the car on the passenger side, but is very noticeable after bending down and putting an ear closer to the right front tire, or underneath the passenger side as I did at the end of this video. The sound is not intermittent and is always present, but does seem to become more apparent at slightly lower RPM, such as after shifting into drive or reverse and holding the car in place with the brake.

Video was taken with the car in park at full operating temperature after driving it, air conditioning was not on.

My LS makes the same sound. Can not even remember if it was not there in the past...

Look into valve adjustment shims.. it's a 60k mile maintenance issue. Basically tolerances vary and you have to swap in the correct shims to stop the valves from "smacking" the shims creating that noise

This noise coming from alternator pulley. I had similar noise got fixed after replacing new one

Just bought an 02’ with 214k miles on it and it sounds just like this one, guess it’s normal 🤷🏽‍♂️
