An Evening With Smokey Robinson (Chicago 2009)

An Evening With Smokey Robinson, an hour-long, PBS-TV live-to-tape interview program provided an inside look into the life and career of Motown legend Smokey Robinson. Taped on October 10, 2009 in front of a packed audience at Northwestern University Law School’s Thorne Auditorium, An Evening With Smokey Robinson featured PBS-TV veteran journalist Gwen Ifill as the host and former Motown executive and film producer Suzanne de Passe as Mistress of Ceremonies. The program also featured musical tributes from Grammy Award nominated artists Teena Marie, Howard Hewett, and Musiq Soulchild. To conclude the program, Smokey Robinson performed his hit song “Cruisin’” with the evening’s three musical guests.

I have been a faithful fan and follower listening to Smokey Robinson's songs many times all over. What a great song writer and singer today Smokey is still singing and recording in 2023.

I moved too Detroit Michigan a cross the streets from the 21 century fox theater. my husband was a friend of Berry Gordy the owner of Motown . My sister in law Vivian Rhone, played guitar and sang with Aretha Franklin's choir. they needed more singers in their choir, so I filled in. We lived two blocks from Aretha Franklin's Church. that's how my singing career jump started. Rev. James Cleveland who was a friend of Aretha Franklin's father
Rev. C. L. Franklin became my first producer. I got too meet Smoky Robinson and many of the singing artists in both worlds.
In 1981 my two sons and l help too record a double Album with Rev. James Cleveland and the Florida mass choir called be encouraged. When I returned to Florida
Al Rochelle who's now on Bay News 9 was my second producer he would do the productions recordings and film's. All of our Grand Finales, the entire Nine Yards. whatever we needed at Countryside Christian Center. later he went on to Bay News 9. I sang with many of the best, traveling all over the country. From there too the movie industry.

I’m up watching this Special Smokey Robinson. I have to say I really enjoyed this. They tore Cruising up. All of them sounded nice. I don’t care if I heard a song for the first time in all of my life, no matter what song it was, I always knew It was Smokey Robinson and I Love All of His Songs . I rehearsed my own voice to Smokey’s songs and the music 🎶 is just so inviting. I Love It ! That’s my Happy Music. Thanks Smokey for all the Joy you gave me through Your Beautiful Songs and Music to the Songs. I’m really eternally grateful. GOD Bless You!
