Look What a $16 Digital Camera Can Do, Don't Spend $1000's on a Camera GE X500 Photography Class 243
GE X500 $16, Camera was used in all the photos in this video.
Camera Specs;
The X500 Bridge Digital Camera (Black) by General Electric is the most powerful camera in GE's Power Pro Series. A high resolution 16MP sensor guarantees dynamic, colorful and sharp images that can be enlarged to make beautiful prints. A 15x optical zoom lens that reaches from 27mm to an astounding 405mm (in 35mm format) will get you those shots worthy of printing. This lens really covers a large focal range from true wide angle to ultra-telephoto and you'll benefit from this range, shooting subjects at a great distance or opening up to include everyone around the dinner table.

Optical Image Stabilization and an ISO that reaches 3200 means that, even in low light, you can take sharp, blur- free images. The optical image stabilization compensates for any unintentional movements so it's easier to shoot on the move too.
**General Imaging was a manufacturer of digital cameras headquartered in Torrance, California, established in 2006 by Hiroshi "Hugh" Komiya, a former executive of Olympus Corporation. General Imaging sold their cameras internationally under the General Electric name, used under license. General Imaging was licensed to manufacture and sell their cameras under the AgfaPhoto name in Japan.

It's not the camera that makes a great photo, it's the photographer that TAKES a great photo.

**I completely understand buying on eBay is scary. However, when you are ready to buy your camera or lens on ebay, use this checklist I have created...
1) buy from a seller in Japan.
2) they must have 100% positive feedback.
3) they must have at least 100 Feedbacks.
4) the listing must say MINT OR EXC OR WORKING OR TESTED OR LIKE NEW.
5) you must understand the camera will Not be the cheapest one on ebay.
6) I try to Only buy cameras and lenses from Sellers in Japan

The following is a Rebecca West Quote.
"Any authentic work of art, must start an argument, between the artist and his audience."
*Must Read*
"Photographic art overlaps with the landscape, portraiture, and other photography types. It is defined by the artist's vision and approach to get distinct photographs. Unlike other forms of photography, fine art photography is about capturing what the artist sees instead of what the camera sees. It is just another tool for artists to produce their art."

Street photography is to isolate and capture moments which might otherwise go unnoticed. (Britanica)

People have an emotional response to images,
fine art photography, also known as “photography art,” or “artistic photography” is photographic artwork created in line with the artist's vision. Fine artists use photography as their chosen medium for creative expression.

You are a great storyteller and I like your style. Please show us some of those 50 year old pictures that you took and make you look back with great amazement. I am sure that you have some of those pictures that you can look back and teach us some skills. Keep up the good work.

I recently got a GE X550 and really enjoyed the photos from it. Then I just got a GE X2600 yesterday. I will be using it this weekend.

After watching this and a couple of your other videos about cheap CCD cameras, I bought 5 of them online. Paid under $20. for each, and under $30. with shipping each. 2 Kodaks, A Fuji, GE X500, a Canon. In my case it looks like the Fujifilm one is the best. But I had wondered why some of my pics with a Kodak C875 years ago somehow just looked better at 8.0 MP, than some I took with other cameras with more MP. I had attributed it to the Schneider lens on the C875, but it turns out that it was the CCD! Of course 8 MP has some limitations on big enlargements, but I rarely go big anymore anyway, and often I just email travel pix.

Fascinating review, thank you. Ironically I had already ordered one off Ebay, primarily for B&W photography. I am a Film Photographer but I wanted something digital as well that was easy to use, well built and low priced without having to be insanely sharp. I will never go full digital, far too expensive, and 120 film negatives are, simply, astounding ! Thanks again and please keep on getting that core message across - great photos are not made with £ Pounds or $ Dollars !

Dear Carmine, I remember selling these as either Konica Minolta or Sony Bridge cameras and we sold them by the dozen for between £20 -75 back in 2006/8 when I was employed in Tottenham Court Rd in London, my rude boss bought them for much less than £20! CCD sensor as much as I remember, so that's why you have such great pictures.

At the time, the shop was doing good business, but the dumb boss tried to be clever and always wanted to boost the sale by adding cases and memory cards; ok that's business of course, however being rude, offensive or shoving products that he wanted to sell at the public, never was how I tried to give the customer service.

Yes, Carmine, I think the camera is great and the comparison between the Leica TL is good and I am a Leica R5 owner, but I use it very sparingly now that film pricing went through the ceiling!

Oh, by the way I have a Panasonic Lumix TZ6, that's got a huge dust bunny in the lens, retired for a while, but, if I get the right tools I will fix it; other contenders for good cameras are the Panasonic Lumix FZ10, £20, the FZ82 w a 60x zoom but $300 USD now, using the digital and optical zoom got a photo of Jupiter and moons @ 2300mm, one night!

Sounds like this would make a good camera for landscapes and sunsets/sunrises.

would you recommend this camera to be used to take aesthetic / vintage type of pictures for concert photography?

Once owned a Polaroid digital camera that looked exactly the same as the one featured here. Would not surprise me if they were manufactured to the same basic design and marked using established company branding to gain sales. The copy that I had was not particularly easy to use and the battery life wasnt too great even with Eneloop AA's fitted.

Last post for the night: if you know a cheap way to shoot film, I would be interested. Of course I expect it will be shoot and scan, but if you can recommend anyone for processing there are some things I miss about it. I started out shooting with my father's Kodak Signet 35, then went into all kinds of Nikons as I went semi pro and pro for some years. Owned a bunch of F3s, then went what some people would think was backwards into FM2s, but the FM2s had a faster sync speed and were lighter to carry. Shot with a 500c quite a bit, mainly with the Planar. Had a Mamiya C330 system, various Rollei and Yashica TLRs. Probably the BEST thing I ever had was a Linhof Super Technika IV in 4x5, had some great old lenses for it, loved the movements. But the reason I would like to shoot maybe a little film again is nostalgia, might get a Signet 35 again, they are generally cheap and with an adapter take series 5 filters. If I could find a cheap SWC or SWCm (not likely to find a cheap one in either case), that would be great. Don't have the space to set up a darkroom again.

A fringe benefit of cheap cameras is that is someone robs you of one, BIG DEAL! I would place more value on my SD card if it had many pix on it than on one of these cameras. Right now I have a Nikon D3300 with a couple of lenses that are more valuable than the camera, so I will be careful where I take that. But after watching your videos, I have decided NOT to make the move up to a 45MP 850, as I realize it isn't worth it to me. And if I go somewhere "rough" I will take one of my cheap older bridge cameras! Reminds me of something- I knew a guy many years ago who bought a new Ferrari and sold not long after because he found he was so worried about it being stolen or damaged that it was not worth the pride of ownership. Buona fortuna, il mio fratello nello fotografia!
