Soldiers: training to jump out of airplanes.
The music: "AEAEAEAEAEAEAEAEAEAEAE"

“On a scale from 1-10, how annoying do you want the music to be?”
“At least 25.”

Week 1: separate the boys from the men
Week 2: separate the fools from the men

I went to Airborne School and Graduated on 27 May 1979. I'd do it all over again. Best Military School I ever went too.

Best part of airborne school is all the “tough” cats that were too scared to jump so they drop out lmao those that made it into the plane were a given a gentle nudge out the door.

I leave for Ft Benning tomorrow. I’ll be the fourth generation of airborne in my family, the next to carry the silver wings. I can’t wait for the adrenaline, the rush, the insanity, and above all else- to experience the deafening silence of your first jump.

Edit: I just graduated! All of the replies and support was really nice, and very much appreciated!

The weeks of running and learning how to "correctly" plow yourself into the ground at 20-30mph

The most useful thing that whole 3 weeks besides actually jumping is the zip line tower, that shit is scarier than actually jumping from the plane

The fact that the new paratroopers will never feel the nut crushing opening shock of a t-10 is so just so sad.

About six hours of training (three if you’re sharp) crammed into three weeks of “hooah” Armyness. The actual jumps were fun. The tedious music accurately reflects the overall mood. It’s a common denominator for being “high speed” & the first step in a series of never ending gut punches to become that which you’d dreamt of being since childhood.

Remember to save all of your medical reports for your VA claims later in life 🤣
