А что такого удивительного тут и почему столько гневных комментариев? Диодный мост в устройстве действительно позволяет как угодно подключать питание к нему. И иногда используется даже в готовых промышленных гаджетах, когда внутри роутера например диодный мост стоит, а извне подключается трансформатор в корпусе с вилкой. Однако это позволяет подключать и другие источники питания, не важно какой полярности и не важно, переменного или постоянного напряжения, главное чтобы напряжение, ток и разъем совпадали. Удобно. Но есть один минус - в цепи в любом случае падает около 1.4 вольта на двух диодах. Но это в основном и не критично.

Yes, you get to use the device no matter the polarity, but there is a voltage drop across the two diodes out of four which are always functioning, so you lose around 2 x 0.8..1v... let's round down to 1.5v for simplicity.
If your lead acid battery outputs 10.8v .. 14v, now your device gets 9.3v .. 12.5v.
That device uses 3 leds with a forward voltage of around 3v and a resistor to limit the current, so if the input voltage gets too close to 9v, the LEDs won't light up.

you just made a full bridge rectifier, it's not what you think that it is, this can be found on battery chargers (sole battery chargers that charge a camera battery outside of the camera) where the polarity of the load or supply doesn't matter at all.
Such chargers are called "Desktop Battery Chargers"
