The Agent That Ruined Valorant

Chamber is the most overpowered agent Valorant has ever seen.

From pro play to ranked, Chamber terrorized every level of the game.

And even when Riot tried to nerf Chamber, they couldn’t stop him.

So, we had to ask: did Chamber ruin Valorant?

Valorant had an OP meta for a while in its first year.... and they did what they could to get away from that. BUT then they created a character specifically FOR the OP meta. Time really is just a flat circle.

The problem with chamber is that you can't really nerf him in a way that won't make him unplayable. The whole nature of his kit is to get the aggressive pick and lock down sites by just denying angles. If you nerf that aspect then chamber is just a roleless agent.

Even though chamber is OP, I think he helped make the meta more creative in a way. Since teams didn’t need Jett to OP anymore they could use different duelists, initiators, etc

The crazy thing is that he's really only overpowered if you are good. If you have bad aim, I would recommend literally any other character

They need to give rendezvous a significant arm time otherwise he is just old Jett but requiring one extra brain cell.

Trademark is way more op than people realize on most maps if you have two it’s almost impossible to be flanked. The most op thing about chamber is even if he loses a round and can’t buy he still has insane kill potential between his sheriff and ultimate.

The nerfs are enough for him to be taken off the role as a sentinel on certain maps which is good, but he is still debatably better then other sentinels on most if not all maps. Me being a killjoy main still feel like it's hard to do anything against chamber if hes played well and his alarm bot is placed correctly, as it doesn't have a range for it to be active while also having a huge radius of detection. ik that is similar to cypher trips but the trips can only be placed in between walls and u have to walk into them. Personally I feel other sentinel need a slight buff so they see more play or become more viable as cypher just isnt and while I make kj work on all maps it's just not great watching my kit not do anything other then my turret because the radius is to small or just to easy to be worked around.

The nerfs on Chamber are reasonable and well deserved, however, the problem I still see in the sentinel role is that he lacks competition for the role. Sure Chamber got nerfed but he is still way more powerful than the other 3, they need to buff especially Cypher to be able to challenge Chamber for the sentinels role.

Astra, Jett and Raze were also OP at some point. I think Chamber has been nerfed well enough that he is no longer a must-pick. In low elo, nobody can aim well enough to play him. In high elo, teams can clear him with utility. It is kinda annoying how he can hold such aggressive off angles and not be punished sometimes though. I think if you nerf rendezvous any more, they might as well change it into a different ability. Something that can help with rotation, maybe increase range to reduce the tp speed, etc.

Chamber was undoubtedly broken, however I think the one thing he accomplished was showcase how desperately the other sentinels need buffs.

Even after these most recent nerfs, while chamber will hopefully be less op, I'm predicting he'll still be the most dominant sentinel. I'm also willing to bet that Riot will see that he's still the most played sentinel and decide to nerf him again instead of buffing the other sentinels.

I always thought it was weird they nerfed Jet's quick dash from awping, but not Chamber's.

I feel like a lot of sentinels got nerfed for a reason, their kits were just too oppressive. I'm not sure if the nerfs were too harsh tho
