Entschuldigen, aber ich muß auf Englisch schreiben: I was conversing with a Turkish man in a small bar in Germany about learning German. He said he had trouble with the difference between ''hinaus'' and ''heraus''. The bartender stopped what he was doing, came out and grabbed the man by the shoulders, pulled him out from the bar and shoved him towards the door, and said, ''Das ist hinaus!''. Then saying, ''Und das ist heraus!'' pushed him out the door onto the sidewalk! An illustration I've never forgotten.

It's like Early Modern English, which used hither (to here) and hence (from here) for this distinction, while "here" was used to indicate a static direction (i.e. "the object is here", as opposed to "we're going here" or "we're leaving here")

Eventually they all just became "here" though

Während ich dieses Video angeschaut habe, habe ich mich an zwei interessante Vokabeln erinnert: der Hinflug und der Rückflug. Das finde ich super, dass man so viele Assoziationen machen kann.

Cari, ich wollte das schon sehr lange sagen: Ich liebe Easy German sehr und ihr habt mir sehr geholfen. Ich bin schüler (aus Indien) und nur eine anfängerin. Ich möchte zur universität nach Deutschland kommen und dafür habe ich beginnen Deutsch zu lernen. Ich folge Easy German und ich kann nicht mit worten erklären wie viel ich mag es! Sie Sind immer positiv, lächelnd und Janusz ist sehr lustig. Ich lerne Deutsch nur mit Easy German (und Duolingo) seit ein paar monaten. Ich lerne mehr als man lernt in der schüle! Meine Freundin lernt Deutsch in der schule (ich lerne kein Deutsch in der schule, sondern nur mit Easy German) und wir haben zusammen beginnen. Aber ich kann besser verstehen, schreiben und vielleicht auch sprechen als sie. Street interviews Sind sehr effectiv und ihr seid die beste!
PS: PLEASE excuse my grammatical mistakes, there are bound to be many and feel free to correct me (I’m only a ‘’high beginner’’). :))
I can attest that one can learn more from these street interviews than from a semester of college, even if you are an absolute beginner!

Excellent video, again! Even after speaking German for just over 20 years, I still learned something. So, thank you! I have a helpful „Eselsbrücke“ that I use all the time „to get one right“ then the other falls in place. You mentioned „Herkunft“. That can also be translated as „heritage“ (where I, through my family background come FROM) and it has HER in it: HERitage. HER -where I come FROM. YAY :-)
