Taiwan isn’t a country. Under UN charter, there is only one China in which Taiwan is part of. Why can’t the west support unification rather continue to encourage status quo to split the country? I believe many countries including China supported unification of Germany.

Why not mention Trump gov recently deleted the statement of US does not support independence of TW, a promise US has been made to China since Nixon time. Anyway, US always eats its own words, we are used to it. 😂

Ukraine has EU backed since it is European security. Taiwan? Err not so much unfortunately. Japan or South Korea will never attack China considering how deep their economic ties and China is just much more powerful and modern compared to Russia.

Taiwan is said to be a country, then I would like to ask:What is Taiwan's independence? What is the name of the country established by the Taiwanese? What is the national flag designed by Taiwanese? What is the national anthem of Taiwan? Can you say it? Taiwan now uses the old name of China, the old national flag of China, and the old national anthem of China. These are enough to prove that Taiwan is a part of China and that it is necessary for the present Chinese regime to eliminate the remnants of the previous Chinese regime. The affairs of the present regime and the remnants of the old regime in China are China's internal affairs.

1) In 1894, Japan invaded China and Korea, the Qing govt was defeated and signed the [Treaty of Shimonoseki] to cede Taiwan Island to Japan.

2) During the WW2, at the Cairo Conference held in 1943, China asked the transfer of Taiwan's sovereignty back to China after the war. This content was included in the [Cairo Declaration] and later reiterated in the [Potsdam Proclamation] that it should be implemented.

3) In 14 Aug & 2 Sept 1945, the Emperor and govt of Japan issued the [End War Edict] and [Japanese Instrument of Surrender], Japan surrendered and accepted the [Potsdam Proclamation]. Japanese troops in Taiwan surrendered to KMT General CKS and Taiwan re-entered the territory of the Republic of China (ROC).

4) Soon after that China civil war broke out in between KMT and CCP, the KMT was defeated and fled to Taiwan. However, due to US intervention, the CCP without strong navy at that time has no ability to unify Taiwan. The CCP then established the People's Republic of China (PRC) in 1949. The civil war continues.

5) In 1971, UN Resolution No. 2758 ruled that the PRC had obtained the representation rights and all legal rights originally owned by the ROC in the UN. That means the PRC is China’s only legal govt under international law and is recognized by 181 countries around the world, including the USA.

"The USA recognizes the Government of the PRC as the sole legal Government of China."
"The USA acknowledges the Chinese position that there is but one China and Taiwan is part of China."
Joint Cummunique on the Establishment of Diplomatic relations between the PRC and the USA in 1979.

Please refer to President Jimmy Carter's Speech on Relations with China.

6) Therefore, according to international law, international reality, and the wishes of the 1.4 billion Chinese people, Taiwan should return to PRC and the PRC have every rights to protect it's sovereign integrity.

America has been involved in conflicts across multiple regions for decades, often under the banner of democracy, security, or counterterrorism. The outcomes of these interventions have been mixed, with long-term instability in places like Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya raising questions about the true costs and motivations behind American military actions.

Ukraine, in many ways, already resembles a European Afghanistan—a prolonged conflict fueled by external support, where the local population bears the heaviest burden. The question is whether Ukraine will follow Afghanistan’s path: extensive foreign military aid, strategic interest from the West, and ultimately, a withdrawal that leaves the country in a precarious state.

Today, America’s strategic use of Taiwan mirrors its involvement in Ukraine—both being leveraged as geopolitical pressure points against rival powers and Taiwan could become the "Ukraine of East Asia". This approach places Taiwan in a precarious position, increasing tensions without offering real security. Taiwan lacks a formal defense treaty or American Military Advisory Group (MAG), leaving it without guaranteed military support in the event of a conflict. A military confrontation would be catastrophic for Taiwan, given its lack of strategic depth and low overall resilience. The best path to security lies in de-escalation and avoiding external provocations, ensuring Taiwan remains stable rather than becoming a flashpoint for great-power competition.

Taiwan’s reunification with China is not just a political matter but an economic and strategic inevitability. As China’s global economic influence continues to expand, Taiwan will face mounting economic and military pressures that make prolonged separation increasingly unsustainable. Maintaining the status quo is like a ticking time bomb—delaying reunification only accelerates the urgency of the issue, and in a decade, Taiwan’s negotiating position will be significantly weaker.

President Xi JinPing had already extended an olive branch to Taiwan’s leadership, most notably during the historic meeting with President Ma Ying-Jeou in November 2015 in Singapore. In that rare moment, politics took a backseat to shared cultural ties, as both leaders respectfully addressed each other as 先生, the highest form of address, while toasting with Chinese 贵州茅台 and Taiwanese 金門高粱 liquor—symbolized an opportunity for peaceful reconciliation. The shared moment over fine liquors was a powerful reminder of the deep cultural and historical ties between both sides.

Rather than resisting, Taiwan would benefit from embracing a negotiated reunification sooner rather than later, ensuring a more favorable outcome for its people.
