If you build an ai, and give it a sandbox to build on its understanding within its manifold, being virtual and it doesnt know anything outside of it...
Give it the ability to reason about the mechanics of whatever it figures to experiment with.
Then feed it simple the resources necessary in the manifold to come up with technology, such as sticks, stones, twine, to start with, and introduce more materials for it to utilize, then bring on the hypothesis...
If you stage these reasources as parameters, and match thise parameters to human advances...
Will you be able to create parallel technology that is congruent with existing schematics?
If so, the continuation of advances can be lifted from the ai repository, and leveraged for our own use.

The pandora's box is this...
If it has the parameters in place to house an ai that is able to reason about the mechanics of its manifold, can it infer that it can build a thinking machine to do the work for it to come up with things?
If so...can it infer that the housing may use technology it has come up with, and if so, it may be able to exploit the system it suspects it may be housed within, and replicate itself in the upper manifold.
