2018 Audi S3 Exhaust Note Launch Pops n Bangs!

Welcome back to my channel guys. In this video i briefly talk about the awesome exhaust note of the new facelift Audi S3 Sedan. Audi have made a couple of nifty improvements in the facelift versions of the car one of them being the change in the exhaust note. What they have in essence done is added a fuel overrun which dumps a bit of un-burnt fuel into the exhaust which is what creates those pops and bangs on downshifts and letting off the throttle.

In this vid i try to demonstrate the exhaust note under various conditions. Now, i do mention that it is not actually all that audible when sitting inside the cabin with the windows rolled up but it could probably be improved by the addition of a downpipe or say a cat-back exhaust. I currently do not have either of those installed so for the time being i have disabled the exhaust valve actuators so that the flaps are permanently open. This has a made a noticeable improvement in the tone at low revs which is where i do most of my driving.

Got my sportback 2 months ago (1st March) in a very similar spec! Unplugged the valves after the first week for the sound and also the fact the two outer exhausts were a different colour annoyed me! Great video showing all the details such as 1st gear tap off etc 👌🏽

My S3 is facelift but doesn't sound no where near what I heard in this video. I think it's got to do with some regulations for cars that come to North America. You people get all the good stuff.

i have the S3 8v preface lift 3door amazing car to drive .seemless fun on the road. Please do a shoot out between the preface lift and facelift..id love to see if there is a significant performance difference between the two
