Every Harley owner started out on a Japanese bike... Fact. I'm in the camp, Ride What You Like.

These days I hear they have Harleys that match with a rainbow purse nicely.

I feel you man. I have the same thing with BMW here in Europe.
I once had a girlfriend who had a BMW.
When we were at a party motorcycles came up in the conversation. When a guy asked her: “hey you ride motorcycles?”, she replied: “ no I ride BMW…”.
I broke up with her.

I've had a 2006 honda shadow aero 750 for about 2 years now bought it with 40, 000 miles on it and put about 8, 000 on it and it's never broken down never had any mechanical issues except a couple blown fuses absolutely love the thing if you take care of your bike it'll take care of you

Ive been riding since the mid 90's. But being a bit rebellious, I could never bring myself to get a Harley. Everyone had/has a Harley! Being rebel, I want to be different. I've ridden Harleys, and they are ok... I mean they're still a motorcycle after all, and fun in a straight line. But how could I be an individual if I owned the #1 sold bike in America. Would that make me a lemming?

I agree with you 100%!
The worst thing about Harley Davidsons are a lot of the people who ride them.

HD is nothing but a LIFE STYLE brand. Like people who have to own Samsung phones/accessories or Apple, it's about how the brand makes you "feel". Not really about the motorcycle itself. Harleys are no better than any other brand produced. And it's been a long time since HD could even say it's an AMERICAN bike since lots of parts are imported for them. Harley is just there cashing in on a name and they are making big bank on the buyer's ignorance.

I have ridden Hondas. I have not ridden a V Twin Honda. 500, 600, 750 inline fours. They have a certain feel as far as power. You have to spin them up to get them moving. Power curve is consistent to where it putters out (as all bikes do). The Shadow 750, 1100, etc... I have seen their HP/TQ numbers and they seemed under powered for their CC's. Super reliable no doubt. Sound... probably about the same. My last UJ Cruiser was a Yamaha Warrior. It had power but for the size it was under powered. It felt like a Inline Four except for more muscle.
Now I have a Sportster 1200 2019. It has upside down power. All the power is on take off and then goes downhill as the tach/mph rise. Not consistent power. My 1200 makes the same power as a Vulcan S 650 and is much heavier so is slower.
Why HD for me? Parts. If you want accessories and parts 10, 15, 20 years down the road... Japanese bike will leave you nothing to deal with except recycled junkyard bits.
Mine is not better. Mine might be less reliable. Those are my reasons.
Oh, I am not waving to you... you... you Honda Shadow 750 or Kawasaki Vulcan 900 owners. Just live with it. LOL!

It does matter what you ride as long as you ride.

HD isn’t worth the price tag. Not even in the slightest. I got a newer, used sportster because it was going to be my daily. I have a lot of fun on it but I wish I would’ve got something else. I also hate the people associated with the brand. I’ll never sell it because I do really enjoy the bike, and I would lose a lot of money if I did. But, for those of you who are on the fence about it, go with any Japanese or European brand instead. You won’t miss out on anything special.

I wonder if Boeing pilots tell Airbus pilots that the Airbus is not a real plane. 😂

Ah Harley Davidson the only
Motorcycle that comes with a free attitude problem
NOT ALL Harley riders. But you know who I mean. You’ve all met one. “I bought a Harley I’m a badass now”

I only owned metric cruisers currently rocking a honda vtx 1300 2009 which happens to be more made in America that a Harley of the same year. I will say I might get a Harley rode a friends fat boy it was cool. Lots of low end torque. Now is probally a good time to get one prices are down from company going woke, most people are broke and riding season is almost over and that ain t no joke!

Why can't bikers just be happy there are other bikers out there? I'm 68 years old. Rode since I was 14. Sat on a new 21 Sport Glide. It was made for me! I ride it. I don't look for trouble or have an attitude of superiority over all other bikes. Where are you riding? Are you upset that sometimes a rider on an HD doesn't give you the 2 down wave? I think so. I also think you're really just mad that you can't afford a HD. How many have you ridden? You're happy with your bike? Good for you. I'm happy with mine too. I wave to everyone. Even mopeds. If they're out there on 2 wheels? Great! I'm guessing that 20% of riders don't return The Wave. BFD. I ride. BTW, the ones that never return The Wave usually have a girl on back wearing little shorts and sandals. He's wearing a wife beater and a backwards cap and sneakers. No helmets on either.

If idiots like that don't want to be friendly? Again, BFD.

Get over it son. Just ride, don't whine.

I like Harleys but they leak oil, too much chrome etc. I'm in the market for a Honda shadow or a rebel. I just looked at the new rebels yesterday but I'm looking to buy used

The tariff was implemented because the Big 4 Japanese manufacturers agreed to sell (dump) their bikes in the USA for the cost of manufacturing. This was their heinous attempt to put HD out of business. The tariff just put the cost of the Japanese bikes where they should have been to begin with. HD needed no help to stay afloat, just petitioned US to stop their illegal activities

I've put thousands of miles on my electra glide. You know how many problems I've had with it? More than I can count. From electrical trouble to mechanical messes. The only good thing about Harley is the sound and the look. Their too damn expensive for what they are, underpowered, heavy, and basic. I've put thousands in aftermarket parts in mine, engine, transmission, suspension, and cleaner wiring. I would have saved money buying a brand new vaquero. I've never had a problem with my kawasaki or honda, and I ride them significantly harder. Harley prides themselves on quality, but the quality is far below what the price point would indicate. Oh, and harley people are assholes. I'll never understand judging other riders because they chose to buy a different bike. Not all, but most. Buy an Indian if you want american muscle. Harley hasn't been it for 30 yrs.
