I can tell my uncle was looking down from heaven when I watched this video. He gave me the itch for riding and he had himself a 1952 Velocette LE MK 2. Tough to find any videos covering this brand. What a joy to watch. Thank you thank you thank you for this! Cheers from Northern California.

That is an OLD bike! A memory came back to me of watching the racers running their bikes and then perching sidesaddle, on an old black and white TV 😊 A Triumph man after my own heart👍

Lots of remarkable machines at the Dawlish meet, ER. Actually I didn't know there was one at Dawlish.
Chris certainly knows his Velocette history and he says he also owns a Venom. As you know I have just bought a 1959 Venom so it would be nice to spin the yarns with him.

Love that video. From the girders to the fishtail the Velo was always a quality piece of kit ( my dad said so anyway). Apparently the starting procedure is quite the art form but once mastered it’s ok ( and that’s why he didn’t buy one apparently) .

One of my others is a little 1966 velocette LE, ( Margaret )ex Grimsby police.. It's a bike that's seen as a little unusual, and not very fast ( the police famously used them ).
45- 50mph of pure rush 🤣

That was quite an interesting direction to take your channel, yes, quite enjoyed that! Keen to see more like that. It would be interesting to see roadtests of old bikes as well, seeing as you ride a lot of modern stuff to compare it with. Great stuff! 👍

They’re not funny tyres Exmouth, they are Avon Speedmaster MKII tyres. I had them on my 2004 Bullet 500 🤨
I have always fancied a Velocette but even back when I was still subscribed to Classic Bike they were starting to get outside of my price range. Lovely bikes and very well engineered.
Thanks for doing this very interesting interview, makes me want a Velo even more now. A 350 KSS would be a lovely bike to take down the lanes on a sunny afternoon 🥰

that velo man talked a lot of sense, , not just a pile of nostalgia, - but real world facts, nice to hear, ,, also the new himo prices are out on the top secret sf channel ;;;; -- i was wrong with my 7150 guestsmat, [ never again will i admit ] but it starts at 5700 to late 6000 at least, so not to bad a guess or price for people to pay as is a new fairly high end water cooled bike with decent suspenders and some more realistic power ;;;;

"Veloce" is the Latin word for speed. The founder was a German by the name of Johannes Gütgemann, born near the place where Beethoven was borne.
The "K" in KSS or KTT means Königswelle, the German word for upright shaft.
Yes, one can live without a Velo but it's a rather dull life.
By the way, those elderly gentlemen are the salt of the earth!
