this is a very good c++ socket tutorial.

why would file transfer require the data to be sent in sequence?
you can't use the file unless the download is complete

Then that means if I ever try programming a netcode for a game to be played online, I'd need to prefer TCP sockets over UDP, otherwise character positions may be "blinking" or primordial frames may be skipped, leading to big errors.

Nice tutorial, most of the stuff works in general, but SOCKET datatype? That's just for Windows, isn't it? Not much for linux/unix programmers. :(
