People forget not only how big and strong yao is, but also how insane his athleticism and footwork was. I've never been so gutted to hear any athlete retire as I was with yao

Yao Ming's sense of humor is his most underrated skill of all. Pull up some interviews. Dude is seriously funny.

The mutual respect is awesome. These two are examples of how, no matter our differences, we can be friends

Underrated center, a shame he had to retire early. He's in my top 10 centers ever.

Can we get Yao some fresh Air Forces?

As a rocket's fan Yao was one of the goats. Shame his injuries (could have happened to anyone that big) kept him from a longer career. But when Yao was on fire watch out. One of the only centers to outplay Shaquille

I miss Yao ming the in the NBA to be honest I think it was kind of taboo in his mind to dominate your opponents but coming to America taught him a new culture and being a passive guy on the court isn't going to cut it players in the NBA, to be honest Yao Ming leaving the NBA was harsh to see. If he didn't have those injuries the potentiality for him was big. Great freethrower, blocker, fade away shooter. My favorite NBA players Kobe Bryan Prime, Wilt Chamberlain Prime, Yao Ming Prime, Hakeem Olajuwon, Allen Iverson.

I have never seen anyone make Shaq look small.

Shaq & Yao would be the Two Best Centers today if they played in their primes.  They would be #1 and #2 by a monstrous margin.  The "best" Center today in Dwight Howard was completely and utterly humiliated by Yao Ming when he still played.

Unlike the Centers of today, both these players actually had a Post-Game, with Shaq arguably posing one of the most imposing Under the rim games since the days of Wilt.  NO Center today would match his size and strength.

Yao Ming would literally tower over everyone and unlike Shaq who used "power", Yao played with more finesse much in the same way as Hakeem.  I've argued that Yao has had some of the BEST footwork for a Center since the days of Prime Hakeem, this made Yao DEADLY near the rim, not to mention he had a Sky Hook & a Fadeaway shot!

He was also 81% at the FT line, something even Shaq can't claim and definitely something Dwight wishes he could even breath on for just ONE GAME.

If both these guys were say...25 years old, Completely Healthy with No Serious Injuries (this is the ONLY thing that plagued Yao, and it's because he played for the NBA and China which to me gave him no real time to rest his body or his ankles) up against the dominant so-called Centers of today...they would annihilate them for free, with their only biggest hurdle being amongst one another.

I MISS these two Big Dogs, since they were truly the last Real Post-Play Centers in the league.

Back in the days we used to always remember that big ball used to change the entire game, and it changed, because of those two.
