Have you ever thought that metaphorically ( in film) his mother was that little girl... I explained to myself and it makes sense to me. It gives so much meaning to film... Overall one of best things I have ever seen, that man is fighting greatest evil in this world who still lives strongly and sadly most of all in the elite world.

Felt sad to see Joe's old mom get killed. The film was terrific. And for some reason I started to hold my breath for longer periods using a bag. Kinda helps actually (^o^)

This movie is great for many reasons, but, for me, for the necessary and brutal disgust it has against human traffickers. Fuck em. Rapists and abusers should have no roof, no standing in society.

If y'all liked this film do check out the rest of Lynne Ramsey's work. She is, bar none, the best at depicting mental illness on screen (as she so expertly does with Phoenix here), blending memory and reality effortlessly. She's also, rather interestingly, one of the best I've seen recently at depicting violence. YWNRH is quite viscerally violent, and yet there is no gore as such, no shots of brutalised victims.
