"He produced all of Weird Al's albums"
We owe this man a debt we can never repay.

I just saw that Rick Derringer passed away at the age of 77. I know him mostly for his Weird Al stuff and WWE themes. RIP to a fantastic musician who had more impact upon the cultural zeitgeist than most people suspect.

I have learned from this series that the music industry is ran by one hit wonders.

Had no idea Luke Skywalker could shred like that.

"The part of the '80s where no one was thinking very hard."

I'm dying over here.

To be fair, I'm not sure "rock and roll hoochie coo" sounds any sillier than "I did it all for the nookie"

Unfortunately, this also explains Weird Al's most intentionally bad song ever, "Girls Just Wanna Have Lunch". Al has said his producers wouldn't let him release his third album unless it had a Cyndi Lauper parody. And now we know exactly which producer had vested interest in Cyndi Lauper...

I think this is your most interesting one hit wonderland yet. I was surprised by his involvement with Weird Al. And never stop doing your Hulk impression.

I saw Edgar Winter perform this song as part of Ringo Starr's All-Star Band a year ago. I literally stood up and stared in awe for the entire thing.

this plot twist is MUCH less fun than the one in the Chamillionaire video

That particular Simpsons joke was goddamn pitch perfect, thank god Todd has his arsenal of obscure jokes that I still remember because I too have obscure memory and interests.

This song is more well-known than you're suggesting it is. I'll bet 90% of classic rock stations across the country will play it at least once this weekend.

Of all the “Did he ever do anything else?” on OHW, this one is still my favourite. He did the most famous wrestling theme NOT written by Jim Johnson

As an Ohioan I gotta say- hang on sloopy is played at weddings. It's a staple. I always heard rock and roll hoochie coo on the radio, so it was never lost on me I still jam out to it. I'm fascinated how much talent randomly comes from Ohio even if it's such a cursed state

So, I guess he's what you'd call "A musician's musician." He's a legend among people that pay attention to who's actually playing behind the lead singer, but the general public don't know him except for the one song.
