It really doesn't matter if they outperform their underlying stock or not. It's apples and oranges. One is growth and one is income. No one makes this argument with SCHD for instance. TSLA destroys SCHD, it's not even close, but they have different purposes. I use TSLY to buy TSLA in one portfolio so I have both. I've only been in these (TSLY) for part of 2023 and I already replaced my work salary. Now I have my salary plus a bonus salary that I use to buy more high yield etfs, crypto, growth stocks and traditional dividend stocks.

These are pure income plays. Growth is a bonus

Its worse here, our economy is like a flailing fish, fighting for its life. The normal state of the U.S. economy is actually very bad. Because of this it goes into convulsive spasms fighting to grow any way it can out of desperation. Tricks, gimmicks, rule changes try to stimulate the economy and prevent it from falling but they only bring temporary relief to people since, when you factor in inflation we are declining.

"Dollar Cost Averaging" is the golden word. Do this on an S&P500 Fund/ETF. My slopping investing got me 32% from it in the last 3 years. As i look to make additions to my 650k portfolio, What stock do you think has the best chance to 10x in 5 years?

I am investing in yieldmax expecting to lose all my money to satisfy my ego mentality and my ego mentality. But so far, for one year now, I haven't lost any and gained so much more. Still, I'm sticking to my original expectations.

I tend to use these as income and DCA into these since they tend to fall, helps decrease capital depretation while DCA into safer funds and using a percentage of the income of the YM to reinvest in safer assests and the other half back into themselves

Anyone concerned with NAV erosion over time can buy long dated in the money puts to protect your premium. I am certainly glad I had $17 puts as a collar for my TSLY positions when the last bottom hit for TSLA.

Comparing yeildmax income funds to the corresponding ticker sorta misses the point of a monthly high yeild investment. The better comparison should be vs over traditional high yeild income funds.

It will be interesting to see how these perform vs tax bonds and high yield savings over time.

I'm divorced, no kids, under the age of 40 years old - I can take this risk and I do.

Investing Yieldmax etf are beneficial when you are investing for immediate income using low % borrowed $. Yes, your monthly dividends will vary but in the long run, the dividends will return your original principle so you could play with house $. For example, I cash out refi $100k from my primary home at 6%. I own over 8k shares of TSLY and it it paying me over $4k in monthly dividend. I use $2, 500 to pay my entire mortgage and the other $1, 500 to buy stocks I want to own long term. I am living mortgage free and buying assets!

They are coming out with a fund called YMAX, which will hold all of the funds under one ticker.

I love your thoughts. I am long TSLY I have a 100 grand to put into the markets now it has shown bullish strength but I am very skeptical about tech and blue-chip stocks.

These etfs were not made to outperform the underlying stock.

I own all of them. In less than 1 year I'm making more in dividends than I am in my salary! It's stupid not not invest in these.

Many people are fooled by high-yield ETFs, saying, 'These aren't meant to track a specific stock; they're for those relying on monthly dividend income.' But those dividends come from your own investment—it's your money! These ETFs often return about 90% of your capital. So, if you invest $1, 000 and receive a $100 distribution, $90 of that is just your own money being returned. Now, instead of having $1, 000 invested, you have $910. They're just giving back your capital and calling it a dividend, which is why these ETFs typically drop 6% to 8% on the ex-dividend date. There's no free lunch. Wake up!

tsly price January 1st, 2023 $13.40. Total dividends collected including Jan 5th $9.681. It only needs to get to $13.40 in total dividends. Everything after that is a free-roll.

Been doing 1 share a week in TSLY for about 15 weeks now to see how the dividend compares to the possible nav erosion, figured it would be nice to enjoy buying the dip >stressing the red with a lump sum purchase due to the downtrend associated with CC ETF’s Atm I’m green and it’s paid out a little over 9% of my entire cost basis, under $200 cost basis total for the position these months later so while I don’t enjoy losing money it’s not a huge amount I’ll lose sleep over and am actually still happy to continue the 1 share a week experiment

I think the real video that needs to be made is to show investors how investing in the underlying stock is the actually the better play. A clear video of how generating income from selling shares for income is superior. For some reason, the charts on their own aren’t getting through. TSLY’s underperformance is staggering -82.5% - OUCH!
