Thanks for telling me. A few years back I won 100 on a lottery ticket and the 5 20 dollar bills the cashier gave me were all fake and I didn't notice till I got home and held them in the light no watermark I was so upset. Since then I am extremely careful.

Also the thin strips glow a different color for each denomination larger than a $1 bill under black light. $5: Blue, $10: Orange, $20: Green, $50: Yellow, $100: Red (older) Purple (new).

The security strips are just cool with a little black light LED though. But mostly the first thing I do checking any bill is look for the little blue and red fibers in the paper. I suppose some people don't have good enough eyesight for that.

i knew someone who washed $5 dollar bills clean, then print the $100 on them, they pass all the tests except the magnetic strip would read $5 instead of $100, but nobody checked em, the bank would even take em

There are so many businesses that rely only on the marker test and don’t teach their employees how to check fakes. But I ran into an issue once when I paid with a real $100 bill and the marker they used showed dark on the bill so they called their manager took like 10 mins and the manager took 3 seconds and knew the bill was real.
