How to make five intersecting tetrahedra designed by Thomas Hull.

Tom Hull's home page:

Each module has 5cm x 15cm. You'll need 6 modules for each tetrahedron (total of 5 x 6 = 30 modules). In this video I'm showing only how to make one tetrahedron, you'll need to build 5 all intersecting. In the link below you can find the diagram and some tips on joining the modules:

It really is a challenging puzzle to put it all together but it is also very fun! Good luck!

If you were not able (or don't wanna try) to intersect all tetrahedra, there is another video showing the complete assembly:

Making my third one of these now, been making quite a bit of complicated origami over the past few years now and this doesn't feel anywhere near as difficult as before. For those of you wondering, DO use glue, borderline impossible to get this thing to hold together without it, if you've done the work to fold and assemble this model, who cares if you used glue? Pre-crease everything if you have the patience, makes assembly easier. And don't forget, you can be a little rough with the paper during assembly, the beauty of this art form is that it's paper, not rock, metal, wood, or something else not very flexible (: Practice makes perfect, after a long enough time you begin to learn your own techniques to save time or put things together more smoothly.

@trevorjonesthatsme
This video shows how to build the units and how to connect them, leaving only the challenge of intersect the tetrahedra wich is a fun puzzle to solve

If you were not able (or don't wanna try) to intersect all tetrahedra,
there is another video showing the complete assembly (check my channel)

I found pre-folding crease helps assembling units much easier. Glue will also help, not only when folding, but also after completed (without glue the model will be fragile).

I'll make it, but I think the cool part is trying to solve the puzzle by yourself :)

I made it by looking at the picture you had, took me like an hour to connect them all but i feel proud that i didn't use help! :D

Great job. I would have loved to see how you linked all 30 together, but I guess that would have resulted in a much longer video. 5 Stars for mad skills! ;)

@milarox1999 I'm not mean. And you don't actually need any measuring instrument to cut paper into a perfect square.

Here's what you do: If you have say for example regular 8.5x11" printing paper, all you have to do is take one corner and fold it fully until it reaches the opposite side of the paper. You just made a triangle. Then now all you have to do is fold and remove the "remaining" overlapping rectangle piece on the bottom.

2 right angle triangle = 1 perfect square paper

@Shido2594 Smaller is better, in my opinion

@evilbull8995 No. You will need 3 x 9, because it is a 1:3 ratio. Or 5 x 15 . .
