Thank you for the alert on this one. I went and signed the petition. I live very close to an FFA airport but that airport is a grass field in the middle of nowhere with no tower and just a phone number listed for the owner of the property. but I'm within 5 miles of it according to the FAA app. Some practicality to the hobby needs to be addressed.

I don't understand the part of the 5 mile airport rule where I can't fly at 100 feet up, but a building that high can exist.

Judging by a lot of the videos on here, it seems that most people totally ignore this part of the rule anyway!   People flying *way* beyond where they could possibly see the device...   I am a big believer that laws should be enforced, or abolished.  People learn that rules don't apply to them, and then ignore others which *should*   Stop signs is one of my biggest gripes - my home town has many stop signs where there should really be a 'yield', plenty vision in all directions, no real need to physically stop.  So, people don't stop...  Trouble is, where there *needs* to be a stop sign, people don't stop either.  We have a couple of junctions which are real accident blackspots because of this.  At one of them, the council in their all-knowing wisdom installed flashing lights and warning signs, but only on the main road which doesn't have to stop!!!   Nothing on the minor roads where the stop signs are...  Not sure what they expect drivers on the main road to do...   Anyway, I will go sign this petition.
