Margaret Thatcher on Women's Rights (1978)

In 1978, Margaret Thatcher – then still leading the Conservative Party in opposition – spoke at an event to mark the 50th anniversary of equal voting rights between men and women. With her trademark dry humour, Thatcher demonstrated that reflecting on the past of women's rights would in no way distract her from focusing on the goal ahead. #MargaretThatcher #Thatcher #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2023 #InternationalWomensDay2023 #Conservative #UKPolitics #Politics #BritishHistory #History #Feminism #GenderEquality #WomensRights

Its not about agreeing or disagreeing with her, its acknowledging that she held the position of PM, longer than anyone else in the 20th century.

Such a strong intelligent woman and yet Alzheimer's took her brilliant mind. Some people rejoiced when she died. I admired her for her principals and courage.

I work for a British company, and i am amazed how few brits speak highly of Thatcher. As far I can tell, she is one of the greatest prime ministers they have had in the last 100 years.

Criminals wouldn’t be given the red carpet on our beaches if this woman was still around.

The UK could use another leader like her. It would seem that only in the east do strong leaders still exist.

No one mentions Emeline Pankhurst only wanted the upper class women to vote. Not working classes.

No, she was determined to get inside and ruin everything. And she did. Look at the world we’re in.

You'd find it insanely difficult to find a young UK national Woman who appreciates Thatcher. Which is sad.
No politician in modern history, upheld the standards of women in places of power like this woman.

A woman of her times destined to be mis-understood.
