I lost my late Great Aunt’s recipe and have been heartbroken. This is the closest to her recipe that I remember. Can’t wait to make these. Thank you for posting!!!!

My Mom always made these as I was growing up, I miss them so much. She also would use them like pie filling and make a delicious pie.

My grandmother used to make this. We called it "block" pickle because it was cut in cubes. This was a real treat---like candy for us kids. Thanks so much for the recipe. Can't wait to try it!

Oh my goodness! These were a special treat from my grandmother at Christmas time, she would can them at summer time and make us wait, drooling all the way to Christmas, what a treat!

SUPER STOKED!!! You have told me what I have tried to figure out since red-headed Mrs. Robinson, my Nanny's neighbor, passed away many years ago. We loved her. I always think of her when I sing along to the song, too. She made the BEST watermelon pickles in the world. That's how I began my profession as the family pickle tray-maker at age 6. I still do it to this day most especially for my dad to continue my childhood tradition. So, THAT'S how to get the same translucent look and color, cider vinegar and golden sugar. I cannot thank you enough! I have everything but the sugar and am on a mission, now! Is there a link to the recipe on the website, please? Fan for life! 😂 I'll be back to let you know how they turn out! Ty, again!

OH!!! My gosh.  I have not heard of this since I was little.  A very, very long time ago.  Just the memory brought me to tears remembering my aunts, and grandma making this.  Along with chow chow and more

I usually give my rinds to the chickens. I've never heard of these before. You learn something new everyday. Thanks for the recipe Mrs. V.

Thanks for making these! I got some from a former neighbor once and loved them, learned canning so I could make them one day..found a recipe from Hobby Farms magazine and it was awful...so I will try your recipe. The first ones I had tasted mostly like watermelon...the second ones were very syrupy and stuck in my throat...this looks like it will taste more like summertime.
