What is Nintendo teasing with Emio?

Nintendo definitely has our attention with their new Emio teaser. What actually is this game any why is being teased like this? We have some thoughts based on our experience of working at Nintendo.

There’s no way this is actually what’s happening but I’d love for it to be a new (Famicom) Detective Club game. I’ve been playing both of them again recently and I’d be overjoyed for Nintendo to revisit the series at some point.

I think it's a brand new first-party IP being developed in-house. This ARG-like promotion of it has got to be their way of getting people talking about it.
