Growing up camel hair coats were the "thing." They were worn by business men as well as suburban housewives. If you had one, you were in the well dressed crowd.

A few years ago I made a V shaped wrap made with a combination of camel, alpaca ( baby and suri), and merino. I call it my Campacarino Wrap. 😂 It was fun to use the variety of fibers. It is very soft and has great drape! I enjoyed learning even more about camel fibers! Great job! Thank you! I recently purchased Circus Tonic Merino Possum Woollen spun and look forward to seeing how it works up!

I am an spinner and have spun baby camel, it is amazing to work with and the roving is sooo incredibly soft. I crocheted the cutest camel with the yarn I made(there is a video on my channel if you want to see it) still one of my favorite projects.

You love talking about breeds, even though you are not a spinner you should get "The Fleece and Fiber Source Book" there are over 200 breeds of sheep in the book and Fiber animals other then sheep including camel. There is also a smaller book that is a "field guide" with around 100 breeds. I have both but for you I recommend the big book.

I have eaten camel, ridden a camel & used baby camel wool. I do think it’s super soft 🥰

All I can say is for baby camel. The natural colours are beautiful. The website is filled with cute pics - baby yaks omg!
We have camels at our zoo. The Bactrian have 2 humps just like the B. The Dromedary have 1 hump like the D. Only way I can remember.
The blow out doesn't sound that odd as show angora rabbits also get the same treatment.

Beautiful yarn. Back in the late 50's and early 60's camel coats were popular. My dad's dress coat was camel. The color of your darker one. You also saw them in the old movies.

I get Oasis Fingering yarn from Expression Fiber Arts which is a camel silk blend. They also now have Oasis DK. Their fingering weight is one of my favourite yarns that they carry. They also have Yak Silk that you might want to check out f you haven’t tried Yak.

It makes sense that Camel would be hypoallergenic. Since they are in the same family as alpacas and llamas are in and alpacas are hypoallergenic.
