Are chicken nuggets still good or just childhood nostalgia?

Arby’s employee here,

We’re confused too. No idea why they’re called “premium”, except maybe as a marketing tool.

They are NOT seasoned with anything in the breading, which is weird because the tenders ARE. They have pepper and stuff in them.

The nuggets tend to be a little juicier, but that’s about all they have going for them. They are at least “whole” breast pieces and not ground, so there’s that I suppose.

I think something worth bearing in mind is that chicken nuggets tend to be targeted at kids, who are notorious for their distaste for nuance in flavour and sensative palettes. You could definitely make a more flavourful nugget, but the blandness is kind of the (unfortunate) appeal.

Chick fil a has great sandwiches. But the main reason they're so popular is that despite the long lines, they move pretty fast and the customer service is great. The menu is pretty small so no one is taking 20 minutes to figure out their order. And rarely do they ever mess up an order. All of that combined makes it completely worth the less than stellar quality of the food in my opinion. No one goes to a fast food place for quality.

As a fitting room attendant in a popular retail chain, that really pissed me off when he said he defecated on in the fitting room and used clothes to wipe his ass, and shoved it under the bench. I always wondered what the people who do that look like and I'm not surprised

Former Wendy’s employee. Filtered oil every 4 hours every single day, completely changed every week with fryers completely cleaned out.

Every popeyes I've ever been to has absolutely over achieved the portions and I love it. I went to one here in ohio about 30 minutes before close for a 6 piece tender and they gave me ALL THE TENDERS THEY HAD LEFT. I went home with 27 tenders and a bucket of fries for $9.

2. Being a truck driver and doing weekly loads in Austin I feel like I recognize some of these fast food locations and cringe when I think about the traffic.
Keep it up Josh you're killing it and maybe one day I'll get to meet you in person so you can sign my copy of Texture Over Taste and maybe I can make a friend around my age in Texas that loves food even more than I do. Much appreciation for what you do from Copperas Cove, Texas.

Ya know something weird I've noticed?

Burger King generally does well in stuff that ISN'T related to their burgers.

That is so bizarre. Why are they not focusing on their namesake?

As someone who used to work at McDonalds, their spicy nuggets are AMAZING when they’re fresh out of the fryer and we’ve just changed the oil. Not close to Chik-fil-A or Popeyes, but my God. Since I only worked in the kitchen I’d always hook my co-workers up with fresh food whenever they went on break. Safe to say, everyone loved me. It was a fun job.

can i just say, it’s SUPER crazy to see Mcdonald’s put above Chik-fil-a. as someone who’s a professional chef, shouldn’t you acknowledge that McD’s nuggets are literal paste and Chik-fil-a is at least REAL whole chicken????
